Loose knobs, just got a few days ago-theremini

Post by Alathea_Squared » Mon Jul 26, 2021 12:05 am

Hi all! I just got a theremini the other day and so far I love it. Small issue, though-

I have 2 loose knobs/pots. I pushed the"pitch correction" knob more firmly onto its base, but it and the "amount" knob still have slack in them.

Can I take this apart, gently, and tighten up those pots somehow? I'm a former IT guy by trade and I play electric guitar so I'm inside of amps and pedals a lot- I'm comfortable wielding a screwdriver, but I wanted to ask first and see what you think.

Do these come apart very easily? Should I contact moog or sweet water? It was a demo from sweet water.

I'm in my first 24 hours with a Theremini, and noticed that all the pots "wiggle". That's why I'm trying to open the case to see if anything can be done to sturdy them up. The knobs appear to be push-on (no setscrews), but with the whole thing wiggly, I'd be afraid to push or pull much.

Hello from Spain! I just bought a Theremini and mine has the same thing. I was surprised, especially the one that moves the most is "amount". It seems that the axis of the potentiometer itself moves and not the body as such. What was the conclusion in your case? You contacted Moog or left it at that. Thank you very much in advance friends. A hug.
