hey guys

Do you know of any good alternatives to pro-tools? Something a bit cheaper maybe?

I don't want crap, so if there isn't anything comparable in function but cheaper in price I'll just get pro-tools.

thanks moogers

Are you on PC or on Mac ?

PC: Steinberg Cubase SL3 (or SX 3)
Mac: Apple/Emagic Logic 7 Express (or 7 Pro) or MOTU Digital Performer 5

=> note: between brackets are the "pro" versions; more features but higher price

Above Software are both working well and are worth a try,
but i want to mention also Samplitude V8 SE.
It was for free one or two month ago on a CD of the german KEY-Magazine, maybe this was offered in an other Magazine too. At the moment i saw it for 49€ at the magix webshop. Anyhow, it is worth to compare and my expierience with samplitude are all positiv.

Just saw at KVR:

:: Samplitude V8 SE free with Computer Music 103

so, if you want something profdessional and outstanding in soundquality, i would hurry to buy this Magazine.

Honestly, for myself i feel a bit ashamed to recommend this, because i belong to the persons which payed a lot of money for the full version (expencieve!) and for us, this free version isn't limited enough.
For a free version, it is very close to the full.

Well, but i have the option to spent some more money in a couple of month for the upgrade to V9.
